Sharia Education

Brothers and Sisters!

Assalam o Alleyykum!

In the article: Introduction it was mentioned that there are two types of educations:

  • Sharia
  • Artistic and Scientific

Brothers and Sisters! Let us try to define Sharia and Artistic and Scientific educations.

SHARIA EDUCATION

Brothers and Sisters! Qur’anis text of Word of Allah. Every word of Qur’an has meanings. Qur’an has been revealed to Khatim ul Anbiyya Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW). Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) is taught about the meanings of the Words and Ayats of Qur’an by Allah either directly or through Angel Gibra’iel (PBUH). . Thereafter, He (SAW) taught Guidance of Allah to the people. Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) Himself expended his life as per Guidanceof Allah which becomes Sunnah, in other words role model. Sayings of Mohammed Ibne Abduallah (SAW) become Hadith. Way of life is Deen e Islam. Deen e Islam is based upon Qur’an, Sunnah and Hadith.

Brothers and Sisters!Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) is Khatim ul Anbiyya. During His (SAW) life time Sahaba (RTU) were educated by Him (SAW) who spread the teachings of Qur’an and Hadith in other cities and countries. The method of educating Sahaba (RTU) was that Sermons were delivered by Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW). Thereafter Sahaba (RTU) used to exchange views and if they were unable to comprehend any issue, they would ask Him (SAW) to clarify. Moreover, they taught other people e.g. offspring, wife, parents, friends and otherwise.

Brothers and Sisters! At that time there were no education centres. Masjid e Nabviwas used for all purposes e.g. performance of Salat, delivering Sermons, exchanging views, Dhikr of Allah, reception of guests etc.etc. However, there was a piece of land beside the houses of Khatim ul Anbiyya (SAW) where some Sahaba (RTU) resided day and night to learn teachings of Qur’an and Hadith. The piece of land is named: Ashab e Suffa. Ulema e karam say that Ashab e Suffa is base for Madarass and Daral Uloom.

Brothers and Sisters! In short, for Primary Education of Qur’an and HadithMadrassaswere formed and for higher education Daral Uloom were formed.

Brothers and Sisters! The daily life of mankind is based upon principles and rules and regulations. For example: as below are principles and rules and regulation of performance of Salat:

  • Qayyam: Niyyat, recite Sana, Surah Al Fatiha, few Ayats.
  • Raku: Praise Allah

  • Sajdah:Praise Allah

  • Tsh’had: Recite dialogue between Allah and Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) at the time of Mai’raj.

  • Darud: Send Darud i.e. make Dua’a for Khatim ul Anbiyya Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW).

  • Dua’a: Recite Ayats of Qur’an as Dua’a.

  • Salam: Pay Salam right and left.

Brothers and Sisters! Above principles and rules and regulations are in very brief form. This is to make people understand how principles and rules and regulation have been derived from Qur’an and Hadith to expend day to day life as per the Guidance of Allah i.e. Sharia.

Brothers and Sisters!Ulema e Karam are heir of Anbiyya e Karam. They study Qur’anand Hadith and determine principles and rules and regulations of day to day life e.g.

  • belief upon Lone Entity of Allah
  • birth
  • brought up of offspring
  • marriage
  • divorce
  • inheritance
  • business dealings
  • public services
  • hosting
  • halal and haram
  • punishments for committing sins
  • performance of Salat
  • keeping fast
  • paying Zakat
  • performance of Hajj
  • etc. etc.

Brothers and Sisters! The life of this worldbegan when Hazrat Adam (PBUH) were sent in the world. It will end on the day of Qayymat. In between i.e. during the life of this world there will be inventions, innovations through Artistic and Scientific education.

Brothers and Sisters!Allah has revealed in the Qur’anto search for the Bounties of Allah by exploration of the properties of the creations of the universe. When new produces are recovered, goods are produced and manufactured, then it is duty and responsibility of Ulema e Karam to make an analysis if Sharia allows these to be used in day to day life. For example:

  • wineis produced by enriching some fruits, herbs etc. Now it is the responsibility of Ulema to determine if it is halalor haramunder the light of Qur’an and Hadith.
  • cosmetics are produced which contain fat of pig. Again it is the responsibility of Ulema to determine if the use of cosmetics is halal or haram under the light of Qur’an and Hadith

  • radio and television are invented. It is the duty of Ulema to determine under what circumstance the useof radio and TV is halal or haram

  • etc.

Brothers and Sisters!Ulemaare not left alone only to preach the teachings of 1400 years ago only. Deen e Islam is for every age. In every age new produces, products and goods are produced and manufactured. Therefore in every age Ulema e Karam have to apply teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith to determine halalor haram which is one of the objects of life in the world.

Brothers and Sisters!Khatim ul Anbiyya Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) advised in His (SAW) Last Sermon to the effect:

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people.

Brothers and Sisters!Ulema e Karam elaborate the context and substance of the above text that there will be different ages where there will be new discoveries and innovations. So Ulema e Karam should determine halal
and
haram under the light of Qur’an and Hadith.

To Follow Sharia is Ibadaah

Brothers and Sisters! The object of Sharia education is to follow Sharia in every aspectof day to day life and this will constitute as Ibadaah, in other words submission to Allah which is object of this life.

Search of the Bounties of Allah

Brothers and Sisters! Haqooq Allah are:

  • belief upon Lone Entity of Allah
  • performance of Salat five times a day

  • keeping fast in month of Ramadan

  • payment of Zakat once a year

  • performance of Hajj once in life time

Brothers and Sisters! Among the above Haqooq Allah it is only Salatwhich has to be performed five times a day when the time falls due with the belief upon the Lone Entity of Allah. There are intervals between one Salat to another Salat. Questionarise how the interval can become submission to Allah because mankind has been created for submission to Allah every moment of his life.

Brothers and Sisters! In the Qur’an, Allah has revealed a number of times to search for the Bounties of Allah. Ulema e Karam say that Bounties of Allah can be searched through Artistic and Scientific education.

Brothers and Sisters!Artisticeducation is to explore the properties of the creations of the universes. Scientificeducation is to implement the Artistic education.

Brothers and Sisters! As it is Command of Allah to search His (SWT) Bounties, therefore search of Bounties of Allah is submission to Allah. So to secure Artistic
and Scientificeducation is also submission to Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! To secure Artistic and Scientific education schools, colleges and universities are formed.

CONCLUSION

Brothers and Sisters! The conclusion of the above representations is that both Sharia education and Artistic and Scientific education is submission to Allah as both these educations gets mankind near to Allah which is the object of this life.

ARTICLE: ARTISTIC AND SCIENTIFIC EDUCATION

Brothers and Sisters! Due to the ignorance it has been determined that Sharia education only constitutes as submission to Allah. If only to secure Sharia education and its implementation is considered as Ibadaah then the object of creation of mankind is defeated.

How?

Brothers and Sisters! Consider the following:

  • Salat is to be performed five times a day when time falls due.
  • Fastcan only be kept in month of Ramadan. However, there are exceptions where one is not obliged to keep fast in month of Ramadan.
  • Zakatis paid once a year. However, there are exceptions where one is not obliged to pay Zakat.
  • Hajjis to be performed once in life time. However, there are exceptions where one is not obliged to perform Hajj.

Brothers and Sisters! In view of the above the time span of Ibadaah become limited i.e. intervals between one Salat to the next Salat and because the exceptions Fast may not be kept, Zakat may not be paid, Hajj may not be performed.

Brothers and Sisters! Please read the article: Artistic and Scientific Education can become submission to Allah. Once you will read the article it will make you realize that Artistic and Scientific Education is also submission to Allah.

Wass’a’lam
