INTRODUCTION

Normally, when a person  changes his faith e.g. from Christianity to Islam then it is said to the effect that he is converted to Islam. Brothers and Sisters! This is not the correct version. When he changes his faith i.e. beliefs then he is not converting but reverting  to Allah

How

?

Brothers and Sisters! Mankind is offspring of Hazrat Adam (PBUH). Hazrat Adam (PBUH) was Muslim. Therefore all his offspring is Muslim. Brothers and Sisters! Mankind has been sent in this world to look for the Right Path, but he digresses from the Right Path for some reason or the other. When he realises that he has digressed from the Right Path and wants to come back on the Right Path then, in fact, he reverts to Allah to lead him towards the Right Path.

QUESTION

Brothers and Sisters! Question emerges how different faiths came into being e.g. Christianity, Judaism and otherwise?

CATEGORIES OF DIGRESSION

Brothers and Sisters! As mankind is offspring of Hazrat Adam (PBUH) so everyone is born as a Muslim. Mankind has been sent in this world for test so there are categories of digression. These categories are:

  • Kaffir

  • Non Muslim

  • Hypocrite

  • Fasiq

  • Murtad

Brothers and Sisters! Let us try to define above categories of digression.

Kaffir

Brothers and Sisters! Kaffir is the one who does not believe in the Lone Entity of Allah and therefore he does not believe in Books of Allah, Prophets of Allah, Angels, Day of Resurrection, Day of Judgment and otherwise. In other words he assumes the role of Allah.

Non Muslim

Brothers and Sisters! Non Muslim is the one who believes in the Lone Entity of Allah and also believes in Books of Allah, Prophets, Day of Resurrection, Day of Judgment but does not believe that Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) is Khatim ul Anbiyya i.e. the Last Prophet of Allah.

Hypocrite

Brothers and Sisters! Hypocrite is the one who by the word of mouth confesses that he believes in Mohammed Ibne Abdullah  (SAW) as the Last Prophet of Allah but his heart and mind does not believe.

Fasiq

Brothers and Sisters! Fasiq is the one who believes in the Lone Entity of Allah and all the Prophets of Allah, Books of Allah,  Day of Resurrection, Day of Judgment, Angels but knowingly opposes the Guidance of Allah to satisfy his Sensual Appetite.

Murtad

Brothers and Sisters! Murtad is the one who has been Muslim all his life but at some stage he enters into any other category of digression.

REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS

Brothers and Sisters! Allah is Aleem (Knower of everything). Allah Knew that mankind will digress from the Right Path. Therefore, Allah determined a way out that should one digresses from the Right Path then he can revert to Allah by repenting and begging forgiveness.

REVERSION

Brothers and Sisters! Emergence of different faiths have, gradually, led mankind to believe that each faith is independent religion where Christianity, Judaism and Islam are considered as three main religions and so if a Christian embraces Islam and it is said that he has converted to Islam. Brothers and Sisters! In fact he has not converted to Islam but he is reverted to Islam as he was born as a Muslim.

Brothers and Sisters! Under the light of Qur’an and Hadith if a child is born where his parents were Christian faith based or Judaism faith based but he dies before the age of puberty he will go to Paradise. Paradise is for Muslims and not for the digressedpeople.

Brothers and Sisters! Now the question arises that if one has been born and brought up as Christian or Judaism faith based but he wants to revert to Allah then what is the course he has to take.

Steps towards Reversion

Brothers and Sisters!

  • First of all he has to study the basics of Deen e Islam and learn about the concept of:
    • Lone Entity of Allah

    • Books of Allah
    • Prophets of Allah
    • Angels
    • Day of Resurrection
    • Day of Judgment
  • Second steps is to learn about the Pillars of Islam:
    • As Salat (Prayer)

    • Soam (Fasting)
    • Zakat (Alimony)
    • Hajj (Pilgrimage)
    • Belief upon Lone Entity of Allah
  • Third step is to learn about the Moral Values e.g.
    • speak truth do not lie

    • be honest do not cheat
    • respect elders and be affectionate to young ones
    • refrain from evils e.g.
    • use of intoxicants

    • illicit sex
    • gambling
    • financial interest
    • honour rights do not infringe rights of others
  • Fourth step is to follow Moral Values in day to day life with sincerity of heart and mind.

  • Fifth step is to make comparison of beliefs between Islam and the faith one has been brought up with. The beliefs of the faith which one has been brought up with should be repudiated e.g. according to Christian faith Hazrat Essa (Jesus) (PBUH) is Son of Allah. So this belief has to be repudiated.

  • Make observations of the lives of Muslims who practice the Islamic Values in their day to day life so that one gets convinced that Deen e Islam is a Way of Life which leads to Right Path and Right Path leads to Allah.

Repentance and Forgiveness

Brothers and Sisters! When one is convinced that Deen e Islam is the only Way of Life which leads to success in the world then must repent and beg forgiveness of Allah and also beg Toffeeq (Help) to revert to Him (Allah).

Kalimah e Shahadat

Brothers and Sisters! When one feels Serenityin his heart and peace in mind then it is a sign that Allah has accepted his repentance and forgiven him by His (SWT) Grace, he should go to an Alim (Scholar) and recite Kalimah e Shahadat before as many witnesses as possible.

Precaution

Brothers and Sisters! Before one should recite Kalimah Shahadat he must make sure that that he has understood the essence of basics of Deen e Islam otherwise if he will digress again i.e. reverts back to his original faith then he will fall in the category of digression: Murtad and the punishment of Murtad is death.

Follow Guidance of Allah

Brothers and Sisters! After one has recited Kalimah e Shahadat then he must immediately start his day to day life as per the Guidance of Allah and Teachings of Anbiyya e Karam (Prophets).

Look for the Right Path

Brothers and Sisters! Now, one has entered in the circle of Islam where he has become under obligation to keep looking for the Right Path and also incline others to look for the Right Path.

May Allah be with you.

Wass’a’lam

[May Allah Bless You]
