Brothers and Sisters!

Assalam o Alleyykum

[Peace be Upon You]

It is natural phenomenon that when someone is given an assignment he has to be educated and trained otherwise he will not be able to complete the assignment amicably and there will be areas left untouched.

Brothers and Sisters! Allahwas Lone Entity and He (SWT) had enormous attributes and powers which He (SWT) could not expose to anyone so Allah created mankind  to recognize Him (SWT). In return for recognition mankind will get closer to Allah and thereafter they will enjoy the Bounties of Allah which no eyehas seen, no earhas heard and no mind can imagine forever.

Brothers and Sisters! However, there was a condition that if anyone will not recognise he will not go to Paradiseand he will have to live in Hell.

Brothers and Sisters! Question emerges in mind what is the criterion of recognition of Allah?

Brothers and Sisters! The criterion is that everyone will follow the Guidance of Allahin his day to day life when he will be confronted with choosing between right and wrong.

Brothers and Sisters! Naffas and Shaitan will inspire to choose wrong but if one opts for the right then he recognises Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! Anbiyya e Karam are human being’s as well. They eat, drink, get married, have children, look for the Bountiesof Allah, have health issues and passaway. These facts have been revealed in the Qur’an:

Surah Al Furqan Verse no. 20

And We never sent before you (O Mohammed (SAW))) any of Messengers but verily, they ate and walked in the markets.

And We have made some of you as a trial for others: will you have patience? And your Lord is Ever All Seer (of everything)

Surah Ar Ra’d Verse no. 38

.And indeed We commissioned Anbiyya before you (O Mohammed (SAW), and made for them wives and offspring.

And it was not for a Messenger to bring a sign except by Allah’s Leave. (For) each and every matter there is a Decree (from Allah).

Brothers and Sisters! Allah is Aleem. (Knower of everything). Being Aleem Allah knows which of His (SWT) Bandah will be chosen as Nabi so He (SWT) educates and trains right from the day he is born. Brothers and Sisters! The Bandah does not know that he is going to be Nabi of Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! As per narrations more or less 124,000 Anbiyya e Karam have been commissioned. But history is silent about their education and training. However, people of the respective age must have been aware of their profile and for this reason they believed in them as Nabi of Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! It has been mentioned in Introduction that a Nabi must be honest, integrate and at the height of Morality.

Brothers and Sisters! Question will emerge in mind that to learn about the education and training of Anbiyya e Karam there has to be an example for guidance of mankind as they will have to follow his footsteps.

Brothers and Sisters! In this respect the example is of the Last Prophet Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) whose life’s every aspect has been preserved supported with reason. This means every Nabi must have gone through the same type of education and training before he is revealed that he has been chosen as Nabi of Allah to convey His (SWT) Message to mankind.

Brothers and Sisters! How every aspect of life of Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) has been recorded this can be assessed by the views and remarks of Orientlists in the extract from book: Khutbat e Madras by Molana Syed Suleman Nadvi (RA).

Extract

Leave the Muslims on one side as submission to the Prophet (SAW) is part of their beliefs. Lets us come in the camp of the non Muslims:

  • In India, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Brehmu Samaj have written the biographies of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW).
  • Europeans who do not have any devotion for the Prophet (SAW), they have also written books on the life of the Prophet (SAW), though for the service of the missionary or artistic taste     or to complete the chain of the history.

About sixteen or seventeen years ago, (these lectures were delivered in the year 1925) an article was published in the magazine Al Muqtabus of Damascus that 1300 books have been written in respect of the Prophet (SAW), in different European languages. Now include the books written thereafter, the number of books shall reach at a high figure.

  • Professor Margoliouth who was professor in Arabic language in Oxford University, his book ‘Mohammed (SAW)’ was published in connection with Heroes of the Nations. No book has been written in English language that could be more poisonous than this. In this book, he did not leave an upturned to manipulate the facts with authenticity. However, he could not save himself to admit the fact. He writes in the preface:

The biographers of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) form a long series. It is impossible to end. But in which it would be     honourable to find a place.

  • John Davin Port wrote a book in 1870: Apology for Mohammed (SAW) and the Qur’an.

He begins the book with these words:

It is no doubt that there are no conqueror and law givers whose details are detailed truthfully other than the details of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

  • Reverend Bosworth Smith, fellow of Trinity College Oxford, delivered lectures in the Royal Institution of Great Britain under the name ‘Mohammed and Mohammedism (SAW)’, in 1874     which have been published in a book.

    He states:

Whatever is right about the religion, the same, unfortunately, is     right about the founders of three religions. As we are not aware     of any better name, we call them Historical.

We know very little about the first and initial workers of the religion but know more about those who promoted the religion:

We know little about Zer Tashat and Confucius but know more about Solan and Scorate.

We are not much aware of Hazrat Musa (Moses) and Buddha, but we are much aware of Ambrose and Caesar.

In fact we know a small part of the life of the Jesus (PBUH). Who can unveil the facts of thirty years of His     life? He (PBUH) took a course of only three years.

What we know is that He (PBUH) has given life to one third of the world, and perhaps may give more life to the world.

An Ideal Life that is very far and very near and it can be possible and impossible. But there is a very big chunk which we do not know. What do we know about:

  • mother of Jesus (PBUH)?
  • family life of Jesus?
  • His (PBUH) first Apostles?
  • His (PBUH) relations and contact with the Apostles?
  • Apostle’s spiritual mission?

A lot of questions emerge in the mind and shall keep on emerging and these will always be questions.

But in Islam everything is conspicuous. There is no ambiguity or secrecy. We have history. We know more about Mohammed (SAW) what we know about Luther and Milton.

There are no mythological and fiction stories or supernatural events in the compositions of the first Arabian authors. If there are any, those can be segregated easily from the historical events. Nobody can deceive himself or anybody else. Here, it is like a full daylight and is reflected on everything and can reach to everyone. (Reference: page 14 to 15 1889).

The Muslims have written and are writing thousands of books about the life of the Prophet (SAW). Every book is clear, trustworthy and historical as compared with books on the lives of the other Prophets.

The preliminary books on the life of the Prophet (SAW) were composed by the authors after listening from thousands of people and reading the scripts, and understanding the context and substance. The first book of Hadith Mo’taa by Imam Mallik was listened by 600 people. This included: Caliphs, Ulema, Muslim Jurist, Writers, Mystic, the people of every sect.

The composition of Imam Bukhari Jamai Sahee was listened by 60,000 people by one of his disciple Farbri.

Gentlemen: Tell me. Among the Prophets and founder of the religions, whose collection of the details of life and the aspects of personality and character has been composed with such care and authenticity? This Historical concept is not part of anybody other than the Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

Brothers and Sisters! The certificate of authenticity of the details of the life of Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) is given by Dr Springer who proclaims that he is the first European who has composed the book: Life of Mohammed (SAW).(This book was composed in 1924 and published in Ilaha Abad).

He writes in the preface of the book: Ashaba Fi Ahwal published in 1853 at Calcutah:

No nation has passed in the world nor is present in this age, who like Muslims innovated the art of Isma’ur’Rijal (cyclopedia of narrator’s tradition), where we can find out the details of 500,000 people.

Brothers and Sisters! Allah being Aleem knew that Naffas and Shaitan will not let the people listen to Message of Allah therefore the Nabi will have to face hard times where he has to be patient, methodical, determined and steadfast in his mission to be completed. Brothers and Sisters! Therefore, Allah brings them up in such circumstances where they learn to be patient, methodical, determined and steadfast.

Surah Al Baqrah Verse no. 214

Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with sever poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Anbiyya and those who believed along with him called out: “When (will come) the Help of Allah?” Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!

Brothers and Sisters! As below is an outline of the life of Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) since the time of His (SAW) birth:

  • His (SAW) father Abdullah Ibne Mut’talib passed away six months before His (SAW) birth
  • His (SAW) mother Hazrat Amana passed away when He (SAW) were six years old.
  • His (SAW) grandfather Hazrat Abdul Mut’talib passed away when He (SAW) were eight years old.

Observation:

Brothers and Sisters! The loss of the beloved personalities made Him (SAW) learn to live without the love and affection of father and mother which developed concern for the people who also lose their father and mother.

  • He (SAW) came under the auspice of His (SAW) uncle Hazrat Abu Talib who was not very well off.
  • He (SAW) used the graze goats .

Observation:

Brothers and Sisters! Living with not well off uncle and grazing goats made Him (SAW) learn to live within His (SAW) means. This also developed a concern for the people who were not well off which led Him (SAW) to help such people.

  • His (SAW) uncle Hazrat Abu Talib used to take Him (SAW) abroad when he used to go to other countries for trade purpose.
  • When He (SAW) entered in His (SAW) youth He (SAW) commenced trading.
  • People used to invest their savings with Him (SAW) i.e. a kind of partnership.

Observation:

Brothers and Sisters! The trade helped Him (SAW) to learn the methods of trade which develops the elements of honesty and integrity which lead to the development of Morality. Moreover, he learned to be an entrepreneur, accountant and lawyer.

  • Hazrat Khudeja (RTU) was a well off widow and used to trade through her slaves. When she heard about the honesty and integrity of Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) She (RTU) represented Him (SAW) to trade on her behalf.
  • Hazrat Khudeja (RTU) was impressed by the honesty and integrity of Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) and proposed her hand for marriage.

Observation

Brothers and Sisters! Honesty and integrity earned Him (SAW) title: Sadiq and Amin (Honest and trustworthy). This is basic requirement of Nabuwat (Prophethood).

  • He (SAW) travelled other countries and noticed people have grossly digressed from Right Path. He used to go to Gar e Hira and meditate and think about how people can revert toward Right Path.
  • By this time He (SAW) turned forty years old and this when Allah sent Angel Gibra’iel (PBUH) to tell Him (SAW) that He (SAW) has been bestowed with Nabuwat and His (SAW) job is to convey Message of Allah to revert to Him (SWT).

Brothers and Sisters! Above is a very brief outline as how Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (SAW) were educated and trained. Brothers and Sisters! Anbiyya e Karam must have been trained and educated in this manner because without such education and training they could not have been able to convey the Message of Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! After the Nabuwat was bestowed upon Him (SAW) then He (SAW) had to face hardships:

  • people who used to call Him (SAW) Sadiq and Amin they started calling Him (SAW) Sahir and Devana (magician and out of senses). Brothers and Sisters! This aspect has been revealed in the Qur’an:

Surah Al Qalam Verse no. 2

You (O Mohammed (SAW), by the Grace of your Lord, are not Devana (senseless)

Brothers and Sisters! This Verse was revealed when the digressed people used to call Him (SAW) Devana.

  • people who used to respect Him (SAW) they started abusing Him (SAW)
  • people who used to trade with Him (SAW) they stopped trading with Him (SAW)
  • people who would sacrifice their lives to protect Him (SAW) they planned to kill Him (SAW) where He (SAW) had to migrate to Madina
  • etc.

Brothers and Sisters! In short, Allah had built in Him (SAW) the power to be patient, determined and steadfast where He (SAW) continued to convey the Message of Allah for 23 years.

CONCLUSION

Brothers and Sisters! Anbiyya e Karam are the role models in every aspect of life i.e.

  • patience, determination and steadfastness
  • contentment
  • conveying the Message of Allah
  • honesty, integrity and morality
  • honouring rights which emerge every moment of life
  • etc.

Brothers and Sisters! Above are the elements which are required by every human being to be successful in this world and life hereafter.

Brothers and Sisters! Let us make a resolution right at this moment to follow the footsteps of Anbiyya e Karam.

May Allah be with You

Wass’a’lam
